How does e-mail work?
Email works much the same way that your post office box works. When someone sends you a letter it sits in your post office box until you pick it up. Once you pick it up, it is no longer in your post office box. Email is the same way. Someone sends you a piece of mail and it sits on the server until you connect and pick up the message. When you get the message, it is no longer on the server, it is now on your computer.

I use a different program - how do I set that up?
Most email programs are set up in very similar ways to Outlook Express and Entourage. If you are unable to complete your email setup using the Email Setup page then please, contact us.
How do I Delete an Account in Outlook Express or Entourage?
• Open your email program
• Go to "Tools" on the menu bar at the top of the screen and choose "Accounts"
• Make sure you are on the "Mail" tab
• Select the account you want to delete
• Click the "Delete" button on the right side or top depending on the program you are using.
How do I check my E-mail from a different computer?
There are 2 ways you can check your email remotely:
1 - Use a remote email service such as www.mail2web.com. This web site allows you to check your Nantucket.net Email over the web, so it doesnt matter where you are. You may need some of the settings below:
Incoming (pop3) Mail Server: mail.nantucket.net
Username: your username (the part before the @nantucket.net in your email address)
Password: your password
2 - You can also set up an account on someone elses machine. See the Email Setup page for detailed directions. Be sure to delete the account from the other person's computer when you are done!
I have Comcast - Can I continue to use my Nantucket.net e-mail account?
Please note: Mediaone's Road Runner service has been bought by AT&T and is now known as AT&T Broadband Internet. AT&T Broadband was bought by Comcast.
If you have switched from a Nantucket.net account to an Comcast account, you may continue to use your Nantucket.net email address! You will need to make one change in your email settings (see below). We can also forward your mail to your Comcast address if you'd like. Please contact us for more information.
Please be aware that you will need to call Comcast with questions or problems regarding your internet service now. If you feel that there is a problem with your Nantucket.net email service, please ensure that your internet service works before calling! To do this, simply open your web browser and attempt to move to a few different sites. If you get error messages doing this, you need to call Comcast! If you can receive your AT&T email but you cannot receive your Nantucket.net email, please contact us.
Setting up your Nantucket.net email address on an Comcast connection:
These instructions are for Outlook Express but the change in settings applies to all email programs.
1. Go to "Tools" on the menu bar at the top, then down to "Accounts".
2. Make sure you are on the "Mail" tab.
3. There should be 2 accounts listed, one for Comcast and one for Nantucket.net
4. Select the Nantucket.net account and click "Properties" on the right side.
5. Now go to the "Servers" tab.
6. Change the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)" to be: smtp.comcast.net
7. Click "Apply" then "OK" then "Close"
